Dr. Anna Bruckner to be Honored with Jouni Uitto Impact Award

On Saturday, October 26, 2024, Dr. Anna Bruckner will be honored with the Jouni Uitto Impact Award at the debra of America Benefit at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. She will be recognized for her exceptional contributions to the Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) Community.

Dr. Bruckner, Professor of Dermatology and Pediatrics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, is Section Head of Pediatric Dermatology and co-director of the Epidermolysis Bullosa Center of Excellence at Children’s Hospital Colorado. For over 20 years, her dedication as a physician and researcher has been driven by one overarching goal: to improve the quality of life for those living with EB.

Her career began in 2004 at Stanford University, where she revitalized the multidisciplinary EB clinic, turning it into a vital resource for patients across California and beyond. In 2011, she transitioned to the University of Colorado, where she has since expanded the EB Center of Excellence at Children’s Hospital Colorado into a leading program. The center provides top-tier multidisciplinary care, state-of-the-art treatments, and supports clinical and translational research.

Throughout her career, Dr. Bruckner has made significant strides in understanding the clinical course and complications of EB, while also exploring emerging therapies. She is a founding member of the EB Clinical Research Consortium (EBCRC), a collaborative network of EB care centers conducting clinical research. As the principal investigator for the EBCRC’s Clinical Characteristics and Outcomes Database, she has led pivotal research initiatives and played a key role in clinical trials for novel EB therapies. Her work includes the development of iscorEB, a validated outcomes instrument designed to measure the impact of EB treatments.
